During the July school holidays, our windband director, Matt West, and his son (a former student of the music school) attended the New Zealand brass band nationals.
35 brass bands from around the country, as well as bands from Tonga, Singapore and Australia, competed in a week long event that included solo group and band competitions.
It was an enjoyable experience, says Matt, with some amazing music on offer.
